The things we do for our clients! A week ago John H at Downtown Fitness started his “Summer Body Workout Challenge”. It’s an 8 week program where participants compete to win cash prizes and a membership. The results are judged on weight loss, body change and participation.
Well long story short, we “convinced” John to advertise with us and he “convinced” us to enter his Challenge. At first I was a little skeptical, I’ve never been one to workout on a regular basis and diets….well they’ve never been my friend. Anyway Kelly and I went in last Monday for weigh in what a reality check. There’s nothing like getting on a scale to motivate you to start working out.
We hit the workout immediately, of course our thinking was that we could lose it all over night, if you know Kelly or I you know neither one of us has alot of patience! Over the course of the week we attempted to change our eating habits, much to the dismay of the cafe in our office building, The Underground Cafe, her awesome brownies, cookies and coffee cake were going uneaten because of course we were her best customers. Instead we were now eating a steady diet of yogurt and salads.
I will say we were both pretty committed during the week we went to work out 3 times and on Sunday we participated in the 3 mile MS Walk which counted as our workout for the day. And speaking for myself, the junk food addict, I only cheated on my “diet” a couple of times, but they say cheating on occasion is good for you right!
So yesterday we entered week 2 with the dreaded weigh-in. I went in not expecting huge results knowing it takes time to everything I’ve worked so hard to create. The results, I lost 1.5 lbs and Kelly lost a half a pound. I was satisfied with my results, I figure 1-1.5lbs a week for 8 weeks I’d be happy with that. Kelly was a little discouraged but is still determined to keep plugging away.
I’ll keep you posted to our progress. I will say that everyone at Downtown Fitness has been great to work with and the facility is a nice atmosphere to work out in. They make it easy to stick to the plan and are always encouraging results. This week we attempt one of John H’s infamous group workouts, wish us luck!
